My paintings are rich with color, design and narrative. I work in gouache, an opaque watercolor medium that enhances my vibrant palette and love of detail. Handmade paper adds texture and dimension to my paintings. I create dialogues in my work by paying homage to women’s empowerment, eastern philosophy, mythology, Jewish heritage and traditions. As I research concepts and ideas, I become enmeshed with interpretations of the stories and symbols that become my paintings. The process of designing each new piece is inspiring and exciting. Ideas evolve in brilliant color and composition.
It is an exciting and challenging process to find symbols that best portray the images I want to share in my paintings. In addition to my narrative paintings, my other work includes lunar quilt paintings, trees, hearts, shoes and moons. These images have become iconic in my work. I continue to explore these symbols and others as I constantly add to my creative vocabulary.
